Norwalk Community College and NEON (Norwalk Economic Opportunity Now, Inc.) will hold a Community Conversation from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2009 at NEON, 98 South Main Street in Norwalk, CT.
The purpose is to engage local residents in a dialog with NCC and NEON and to bring forward issues, concerns and opportunities which could result in new college initiatives, new and/or enhanced NEON programs and services, and community partnerships. Childcare will be available.
Given the challenges of the downturned economy, NCC and NEON will explore how they can help community members achieve economic security and independence, both now and in the future.
NCC and NEON will invite a broad cross section of participants including youth (ages 17-24), parents, grandparents, extended families, small business owners, community activists, clergy and representatives of community agencies and public housing. The evening will include dinner, breakout sessions in small groups with a moderator, and a large group discussion.
5 to 5:45 p.m.
Dinner will begin at 5 p.m., followed by a welcome from NCC President David L. Levinson, Ph.D.; and NEON CEO/President Joseph E. Mann.
5:45 to 6:15 p.m.
Moderator Sonja Araujo will present a PowerPoint overview of the evening’s key questions and issues.
6:15 to 8:30 p.m.
Attendees will attend breakout sessions in small groups.
8:30 to 9 p.m.
A large group discussion will bring all participants together to discuss results and how NCC, NEON and the community can collaborate and leverage their resources.
