Stamford, CT – March 16, 2010 – Mayor Pavia today is advising residents and businesses that have suffered property damage from this weekend’s storm to report it to the City immediately. This will enable the City to begin providing the assistance needed, and pave the way for a smooth permitting process that will help expedite reconstruction and restoration.

“If your home or place of business was damaged by this weekend’s storm, call 203.977.5700 or 203.977.4161. We will send a City inspector to assess your needs and arrange assistance,” City building official Robert Demarco said. Demarco and his staff will advise residents and business owners of the procedures for securing the City’s help in removing trees and debris. They will also provide advice on permits required for repairs and reconstruction. City workers are authorized to remove downed trees and debris but they must rely on CL&P workers to remove and repair downed or damaged power lines.

Mayor Mike Pavia states that, “The City will streamline the permit process so people can rebuild their homes and businesses in the most timely and convenient manner possible.”
