Free entertainment in Norwalk parks features kids' activity plus “Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory”

Free summer entertainment organized by the Norwalk Department of Recreation and Parks will continue on Saturday, August 9, at Shady Beach, where families can enjoy a screening of “Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory” … and on Wednesday, August 13, at Calf Pasture Beach with performances by Lynn Lewis & Friends and 42nd Street. Attendees are encouraged to bring a picnic and comfortable seating. A parking fee of $5.00 per car will be charged for cars without a Norwalk beach sticker.

On August 9 a children’s activity beginning at 5:00 p.m. will be followed at sunset by “Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory,” a popular film starring Gene Wilder and Jack Alberton, which will be shown on a full-size screen.

Lynn Lewis & Friends will kick off the fun on August 13 (rain date the following night) at 6:30 p.m. These popular performers encourage children and their families to sing along, dance and meet costumed characters. They will be followed at 7:30 p.m. by 42nd Street led by Mike Gentile (saxophone/guitar/percussion) and vocalists Susana Lopes (percussion), Ken Buonaducci (drums), Roger Glidden (bass/keyboard), Jim Harkins (guitar) and David Dion (piano/keyboard).
