Last year, EMCOR became a Flagship Sponsor of the walk for breast cancer research, prevention, and patient support services in honor of the Company’s 10th year with Making Strides. EMCOR has also been a Pink Ribbon Sponsor and Survivorship VIP Sponsor. Purdue Pharma has been a flagship sponsor for the past eight years. The flagship level is the highest form of support for Making Strides with a minimum donation of $10,000. “We are extremely thrilled and thankful to have EMCOR and Purdue Pharma back as a Flagship Sponsors,” said Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk Manager Mindy Doyle. “EMCOR, Purdue Pharma, and their employees are an inspiring example of how much selfless volunteers and charitable companies can do to help us in the fight against breast cancer.” As part of their commitment, EMCOR Administrative Services Director Jeanne-Marie Ferro and Purdue Pharma Healthcare Alliance Development Associate Director Kim Tiller, RN, MPH, spoke at the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer kickoff breakfast at the Westport Country Playhouse on Aug. 14. “Most of us at EMCOR have been touched, in one way or another by a loved one suffering from breast cancer,” Ferro said. “EMCOR’s deep history with Making Strides in Westport started with its employees wanting to make a difference in the eradication and treatment of breast cancer; it is now a key part of the Company’s Touching Lives Program, a corporate responsibility initiative that involves the entire organization.” “Purdue, now in our 8th year as a flagship sponsor, has a common goal with the American Cancer Society: to help improve the quality of life for those who suffer from cancer pain,” Tiller said. “We are proud to support Making Strides and to continue to provide an opportunity for our employees and their families to become involved in this wonderful event.” Set for Sunday, Oct. 19 at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is a national non-competitive walk that unites communities to honor and celebrate breast cancer survivors, educate women about the importance of early detection and prevention and raise money to fund lifesaving research and support programs that further progress against this disease. Last year, more than 500,000 walkers across the country raised more than $50 million to support the American Cancer Society’s breast cancer research programs and local services for patients and their families.
