Bristol, CT - Connecticut Community Care, Inc. (CCCI) received two grants totaling $7,500 for its Independent Living Fund (ILF). The $5,000 grant from The Community Chest of New Britain and Berlin, Inc., a supporting organization of the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain, will be used for CCCI’s North Central Regional Office’s clients, which serves these communities. The approved grant in the amount of $2,500, from The Community Foundation of Northwest Connecticut, Inc., will support the ILF in the communities served by CCCI’s Northwest Regional Office located in Watertown.

The Independent Living Fund assists CCCI clients on the Connecticut Home Care Programs (CHCPs) for elders and disabled adults with charitable care when no other resources are available. Assistance provided may include direct services, social services, medical or personal equipment purchase or repair, help in an emergency situation and much more. CCCI has had to move elders for their safety; others have been on the verge of losing electricity or phone service. Requests from ILF may range from $15 for a small household item to $1,500 or more, depending upon the severity of the situation.
