Appalachian Mountain Club to hold “Annual Gathering” in Wallingford

Appalachian Mountain Club to hold “Annual Gathering” in Wallingford
The Connecticut Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) will hold its 2007 “Annual Gathering” on Saturday, December 1 at Mountain Ridge in Wallingford.

A day of activities will begin at 1.00 pm with a series of nine workshops and presentations covering a wide range of topics and interests including “Investing Green,” “Flash Photography,” and “Opportunities for Fun on the Appalachian Trail.” In the afternoon there will also be a Used Gear Sale and displays by a number of AMC committees.

At 3:30 p.m. special guest Andy Falender, Executive Director of the Appalachian Mountain Club, will provide an update on the Club's Maine Woods Initiative for the preservation of vast wilderness areas in northern Maine.

At 5.00 pm there will be a cash bar followed by dinner at 6.00 pm. and a short business meeting.

At 7.45 pm there will be an audio-visual presentation by Connecticut – based Carolyne Gatesy and Donald Lewis entitled “Climbing Antarctica’s Vinson Massif” the story of their record breaking climb to the summit of the highest mountain in Antarctica.

The cost for dinner is $35 for AMC members and $40 for non-members. Reservations must be received by November 20. A full program together with directions and details of how to register is available at www.ct-amc.org/program/AnnualMeeting.htm
