Westport Country Playhouse (Joanne Woodward and Anne Keefe, artistic directors, and Jodi Schoenbrun Carter , managing director) will present a Sunday Symposium on “The Changing Views of Marriage” following the Sunday, April 6, 3 p.m. matinee performance of “Time of My Life,” a comedy by Alan Ayckbourn about three couples in various stages of marriage.

Sunday Symposium speakers will be Scott Haltzman, MD, clinical assistant professor of psychiatry and human behavior, Brown University, and author of "The Secrets of Happily Married Men: Eight Ways to Win Your Wife's Heart Forever” and “The Secrets of Happily Married Women: How to Get More Out of Your Relationship by Doing Less”; and Esther Perel, licensed marriage and family therapist, and author of “Mating in Captivity: Reconciling the Erotic and the Domestic.”

The Playhouse Sunday Symposium program, free and open to the public, provides the audience with guest speakers’ in-depth insights and observations about the production followed by an interactive dialogue. Debra Baron , Westport Country Playhouse education director, will moderate the Sunday Symposium. It is open to all, including those who attend a performance of “Time of My Life” at another time.” The Sunday Symposium is supported, in part, by the White Barn Program of the Lucille Lortel Foundation.

“Time of My Life” will reunite author, director and cast members from one of last season’s biggest hits, “Relatively Speaking.” Cast members are Jason Antoon, Geneva Carr, Carson Elrod, Cecilia Hart, Seana Kofoed, James Waterston and Paxton Whitehead. Carr, Hart, Waterston and Whitehead were a smash hit last year on the Playhouse stage in Alan Ayckbourn’s “Relatively Speaking.” Elrod received acclaim for his performance in “The Drawer Boy” at the Playhouse in 2006.

In “Time of My Life,” audience favorite Paxton Whitehead plays Gerry Stanton, family patriarch, who gets together with his sons and their significant others to celebrate their mother’s 54th birthday at their favorite family restaurant. Based on what transpires following the night of the birthday party, time begins to flow differently for each couple.

Directed by John Tillinger, “Time of My Life” will play from April 1 – 19. Due to the incredible demand of last season’s production of “Relatively Speaking” and the same core talent returning, the Playhouse has added a fourth week of performances for “Time of My Life,” Thursday, Friday and two Saturday performances, April 24 - 26.

Following a multi-million dollar renovation completed in 2005, the Playhouse is now open year-round, welcoming 85,000 audience members annually. On its legendary stage are theatrical productions, educational programming and special events, including films, readings of short fiction and new plays, and a Family Festivities series. The rich history of the Westport Country Playhouse dates back to 1931, when New York theatre producers Lawrence Langner and his wife Armina Marshall created a Broadway-quality stage within an 1830s cow barn. Now celebrating its 78th season, the Playhouse has produced more than 700 plays, 35 of which later transferred to Broadway. Its roster of actors reads like a "Who's Who" of the American theatre. Westport Country Playhouse serves as a treasured home for the performing arts for audiences and artists alike, and as a true cultural landmark for Connecticut .

“Time of My Life” board of trustees sponsors are Kim and Niv Harrizman. The Playhouse is a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit organization.

Subscriptions for the 2008 season are now on sale, offering discounted prices and preferred, renewable seating. Single tickets range from $30 to $55; opening night tickets, including post-performance reception, are $65.

Students and educators are eligible for 50% discounts. Groups of 10 or more save up to 30% off the regular ticket price. For group sales information call (203) 227-5137, x120.
