Simsbury, CT - Over 100 guests enjoyed a beautiful evening in the fresh summer air at the Simsbury Historical Society for the most recent fundraiser of the Simsbury Art Trail exhibit.

The Garden Party celebrated the success of the town’s first ever public art trail and the attention that has been generated by the 32 lifelike sculptures displayed throughout Simsbury since its installation last month.

Guests in attendance were given an opportunity to view and experience five unique sculptures nestled within the gardens of the Simsbury Historical Society, including “Can Do!”, “God Bless America”, “Monet, Our Visiting Artist”, “Return Visit” and “Sidewalk Concert”. Event goers were also able to help create a floral art project and tour the buildings and artifacts at the venue.

Scrumptious platters of hot and cold hors d’oeuvres were served alongside beer, wine and specialty cocktails. Light jazz music played by saxophonist Frank Kozyra contributed to the picturesque setting of the clear blue Friday evening sky and served as a relaxing backdrop for all visitors.

Catering was provided by Fitzgerald’s, a local Simsbury grocery store, and included loaded potatoes, tenderloin sandwiches and other delicious gourmet appetizers served on trays, as well as selections from the deli at a food tent within the garden.

The Garden Party, sponsored by Alliances by Alisa Media Relations, is just the latest success in a series of celebrations hosted by the Simsbury Chamber of Commerce, including a Champagne Breakfast and reception to initiate the summer project, and a guided tour in which visitors could bike or walk past various sculptures around town.

Lisa Gray, Executive Director of the Simsbury Chamber of Commerce, toasted the success of the Simsbury Art Trail and the attention that has come with it thus far with her originally-created signature cocktail, Monet’s Garden.

“We naively thought that 10,000 paper trail maps of the sculptures would be enough to last for the entirety of the project,” said Gray. “But, after completely running out a few weeks ago, we soon realized just how incredible and engaging this project has been so far. We are thrilled with the reception it has received and seeing how much enjoyment it has brought to our visitors makes it all worthwhile.”

The sculptures will remain in town until the Closing Ceremony on September 15th officially concludes what has proven to be a prominent and widely successful celebration for the town of Simsbury.

Life in Simsbury: A Public Art Trail consists of 32 bronze sculptures by artist Seward Johnson that are displayed in various outdoor locations throughout Simsbury.
