Richard Marx to perform with Matt Scannell

"Duo" is an album by pop singer Richard Marx and Vertical Horizon band member Matt Scannell. Released this past spring, this collaboration of both musicians' acclaimed works-including Marx's "Hazard," a special rendition of "Hold on to the Night" as well as "Everything You Want," and "Give You Back" by Vertical Horizon-will be highlighted as the two take the stage at The Ridgefield Playhouse for Movies and the Performing Arts at 8 p.m. on Friday, October 3.

Grammy Award winner (songwriter "Dance With My Father") Richard Marx kicked off his career as a solo artist with his debut single, "Don't Mean Nothing." He continued his rise with the pop charts with "Hold On to the Nights," "Satisfied" and "Right Here Waiting."

Singer/songwriter/producer Matt Scannell rocks audiences around the world with his enchanting and engaging music. Even after the meteoric success generated from "Everything You Want," his music and lyrics are still as personal as a letter from a close friend.

The show and the album came about because Richard Marx and Matt Scannell are friends. After acoustically performing together in Tennessee, the duo booked more venues, and as Marx explains, "Everything is Simon & Garfunkel style, except we both write songs and we both really like each other. What happens in between the songs is really the show. It's really random and there's tons of non-sequiturs throughout the night."
