Greater Bridgeport Area businessmen and familiar local personalities appear on stage in cameo role

Playhouse on the Green, a 54-year-old not-for-profit theater company in residence at a beautiful 228-seat jewel-box theater in the heart of downtown Bridgeport, CT, announces that local businessmen, radio personalities, and politicians will make special cameo appearances in the upcoming production of Steve Martin's raucous comedy "The Underpants" from September 26-October 5.

Martin's play, which is an adaptation of Carl Sternheim's 1911 send-up of repressed society and scandalous fashion faux pas, launches the Playhouse's 2008-2009 season of plays and musicals. The show runs for 8 performances only.

Among the notable Greater Bridgeport Area residents to appear on stage in a special cameo role are:

- Mark Graham of Trumbull, co-owner of graygraham marketing and advertising in Westport (Friday, September 26 at 8PM, Opening Night)

- Frank Gennarini of Bridgeport, Vice President of Real Estate for D'Addario Industries and Vice Chair of The Barnum Museum (Saturday, September 27 at 8PM and Sunday, September 28 at 3PM)

- David Smith of Fairfield County, host of "The Exchange" on WICC Radio (Friday, October 3 at 8PM)

Other "Kings" will be announced shortly.

Called "hilarious and bawdy" by The Village Voice, "The Underpants" features rapid-fire wit, farcical situations, double entendres, and of course a good deal of Steve Martin's trademark wackiness! As New York's Daily News proclaimed, "Not since Monica Lewinsky's thong almost toppled a presidency has a pair of panties caused such a national fuss!"

Matt Schicker directs a cast of 6 area actors: Nick Assunto of Milford; Lucy Babbitt of Stratford; Kevin Green of Milford; Elizabeth May of Hastings; John Pyron of Fairfield; and David Thomas of Bridgeport. Suzanne Kachmar is Associate Producer; Brandy Devoid is Set Designer; Michael Jarett is Lighting Designer; Meredith Neal is Costume Designer; Jim DeVivo is Sound Designer; Jennifer Samath is Production Stage Manager; Caroline Card is Assistant Stage Manager; Martha Kemp is Wardrobe Assistant; Sasha Mastro is Technical Director; Donald Rowe is Light Board Operator. Marketing by graygraham.
