By Ridgefield Playhouse
Jul 8, 2008 - 6:37:41 AM
You may have seen them at the Wolf Den in Mohegan Sun, but now's your chance to see them right here! Led by David Foster, the Mohegan Sun AllStars, formerly known as the Shaboo All-Stars, have a top-talent line-up including Maceo Parker, Matt "Guitar" Murphy (of "Blues Brothers" fame), Cliff Goodwin (Joe Cocker, Robert Palmer), Keyboardist Mitch Chakour (Bonnie Raitt, Joe Cocker), guitarist Jeff Pevar (CPR, featuring David Crosby) and keyboardist Michael Finnegan (Jimi Hendrix collaborator). They will bring this talent to The Ridgefield Playhouse for Movies and the Performing Arts on Saturday, August 9 at 8 p.m.
Thirty years ago, David Foster opened the legendary Shaboo Night Club in Willimantic, CT, a Former textile factory transformed into one of the hottest nightspots in all of New England. At the Shaboo, Foster produced more than 3,000 acts and created the amazing sound of the Shaboo All-Stars. While the Shaboo Night Club closed its doors in the early 80's, Foster and his band went on to become one of the best-known bands in Connecticut. And, while they may have changed their name to the Mohegan Sun All-Stars a few years ago, their sound remains one of the hottest sounds today.
