New York Post raves that “Long Story Short” is “Historical and hysterical. Very, very funny.” Variety wrote that it is “Genius. Comedy bearing legitimate signs of intelligent life.” In “Long Story Short”, directed by Jerry Seinfeld, renowned comedian Colin Quinn focuses his “articulate brand of comedy” on the demise of empires, including our own. At The Ridgefield Playhouse on Friday, February 17, at 8 p.m., Quinn will prove that throughout human history, the joke has always been on us. Bernard’s (22 West Lane, Ridgefield) is offering a special prix-fixe menu before or after the show, and Sarah's Wine Bar will give a free glass of wine with dinner when tickets are presented, beginning at 5 p.m. After the show at 11 p.m. at Bissell House (378 Main St., Ridgefield), ticket holders will enjoy “The Great Guinness Toast” with a free pint of Guinness when stubs are shown. This event is part of the Ridgefield Magazine/Morris Media Group Broadway & Cabaret Series and is partially underwritten by Adam Broderick Salon & Spa with media sponsor The Fox 95.9fm.
“Whenever we can bring to the Playhouse the caliber of performer found in Colin Quinn, our intent is to make it a memorable, fun evening, with a top-notch entertainer plus a special opportunity to wine and dine before or after the show,” explains Allison Stockel, Executive Director of The Ridgefield Playhouse.
More than standup comedy, “Long Story Short” is a hilarious blend of incisive observation, sharp commentary, and Colin’s channeling of the personalities of the past. From Socrates to Snooki, Quinn is at his satirical best, taking on the attitudes, appetites and bad habits that toppled the world’s most powerful nations.
An author and performer, Colin Quinn is a native of Brooklyn and began his comic career in New York as a regular on the comedy circuit. He made his television debut as co-host of MTV’s popular game show “Remote Control”. Quinn landed a spot on the legendary Saturday Night Live (SNL) where he entertained audiences for five seasons then went on to tackle societal issues on “Tough Crowd With Colin Quinn.” His first one-man show, Sanctifying Grace, began Off-Broadway in 1994 and was later produced as Colin Quinn – An Irish Wake. His most recent off-Broadway show Colin Quinn Long Story Short opened at the Bleecker Street Theatre and is now on tour at such intimate venues as The Ridgefield Playhouse.
