This summer the Stamford Center for the Arts, in conjunction with presenting sponsors RFR Realty and Purdue Pharma, is presenting a creative arts and music institute for almost 6,000 of our area’s youth. As part of this summer festival, Emmy Award Winning Puppeteer Jim West will be coming to The Palace. West will conduct several fun-filled work shops and will capture the imagination on Thursday July 22nd at 10:00am and 12:00pm with performances of his famous Aesop’s Fables II.

“We are excited to have Jim West return to The Palace,” said SCA Executive Director, Elissa Getto. “He is an amazing performer, and seeing some of the most famous stories brought to life is an incredible experience for children and adults alike.”

The workshops are a great way to inspire a love for the arts and aid a child’s creative development. In each workshop, Jim West will teach the children to make paper bag puppets with common household items - construction paper, multicolored tissue paper, crayons, glitter, markers, glue, and more. The workshops are open to children ages 7-10 and are 45 minutes in length. Tickets cost $15 per child and include an optional chaperone, with a maximum of 25 children per workshop.

The shows offer a wonderful opportunity to experience the arts through live performance as Jim West and his partner bring Aesop’s famous fables to life in a truly unique way with an unbelievable feat of large-scale puppeteering featuring the music of Scarlatti, Beethoven, and Chopin. The performances are recommended for children ages 4-10 and are 55 minutes in length. Tickets are on sale for $8 (an additional $1 handling fee per ticket applies) for children and adults or just $5.00 for groups of 15 or more.
