Formed back in 1968, Poco rose from the ashes of the Buffalo Springfield and began infusing the Los Angeles folk/rock sound with their deep-rooted lyricism and the sound of country music (think “Crazy Love”). Two of the early members (Rusty Young and Paul Cotton) remain; Jack Sundrud and George Lawrence now join them as Poco returns to The Ridgefield Playhouse for Movies and the Performing Arts at 8 p.m. on Sunday, September 28. Special guest for this show is Marshall Crenshaw, best known for his song “Someday, Someway” as well as his portrayal of Buddy Holly in the hit film “La Bamba.” A great night of music with two music legends!

Poco’s album, “Legend” had two hits, “Crazy Love,” which had a seven-week run at number one on the Adult Contemporary Chart in 1979 (the biggest hit that year) and “Heart of the Night.” After the albums, “Under the Gun,” “Blue and Gray,” “Cowboys and Englishmen,” “Inamorata” and “Ghost Town,” their album “Legacy” produced the hit, “Call It Love.” Their most recent album is “The Wildwood Sessions,” available on their website. Marshall Crenshaw, whose most recent career highlight may at last bring him the public recognition that has long eluded him, has been nominated for a 2007 Golden Globe award for Best Original Song for the new film “Walk Hard.” His first album, Marshall Crenshaw, was acclaimed as a pop masterpiece upon release in 1982, proving Crenshaw a first-rate songwriter, singer and guitarist. The record spawned the Top 40 single “Someday, Someway.”
