The sixteen Connecticut theaters join over 600 other venues across the country in 120 different cities. Previous CT participants HartBeat Ensemble, Hartford Stage, Seven Angels Theatre and TheaterWorks in downtown Hartford are joined by twelve new companies: ARTFARM, Garde Arts Center, Hartford Children's Theatre, Ivoryton Playhouse, Little Theatre of Manchester, Oddfellows Playhouse, The Spirit of Broadway Theater, Square One Theatre Company, Stamford Theatre Works, TheatreWorks New Milford, Thomaston Opera House and Warner Theatre. This statewide coalition of theatres is the largest lineup for Connecticut in the history of the popular four-year old Free Night of Theater program. TheaterWorks (Hartford) Director of Marketing Jacques Lamarre states, "Once again, Connecticut theaters are delighted to throw open our doors to introduce new audiences to the wonderful variety of work that we produce year-round. This year's Free Night of Theatre offers a range of comedies, dramas, musicals, children's plays, socially-conscious theatre, opera and even a circus. We have made over 700 tickets available for Free Night, so we're hoping people will turn off their TVs and check out this state's diverse theatrical offerings!" It is simple to be a part of CT's Free Night of Theater. On Thursday, October 2nd at 10:00 a.m., the online box office for CT events opens at www.freenightoftheater.net. Interested patrons can visit the website and reserve a pair of tickets to the performance of their choice at a theater that they have not visited before. Limited quantities of seats are available for select performances on select dates ranging from October 11th until November 16th. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis at no charge whatsoever. If patrons book into a theater that they have attended before, the venue will contact them and the reservation will be invalidated.
