Funny girl Christine O’Leary will share her secrets for how to make people laugh when she teaches her 8-week adult ed Stand-Up Comedy workshop at The Ridgefield Playhouse, beginning Monday, February 11, thru April 1, 7 – 9 p.m. This innovative series offers the opportunity to try stand-up comedy (with no risk of not being laughed at). Ms. O’Leary’s observational quick-witted style will inspire her students to learn the fundamentals of comedy writing and performance. Everyone will earn an MC (Master of Comedy) after a full-blown graduation show at The Ridgefield Playhouse. All students will be declared funny and pass with flying colors. According to Ms. O’Leary, the idea is to have fun and use her workshop as an affordable form of therapy.

Christine O'Leary is a social worker, project manager, social media editor and professional award-winning comedienne. She donated her talents to host the January 19 & 20 Hope and Healing concerts produced by The Ridgefield Playhouse to benefit survivors and first responders of the December 14 tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut. “Christine is just plain funny and can think fast on her feet, which she demonstrated as host of the Hope and Healing concerts,” explained Susan Dumont-Bengston. “With her charm and wit, Christine could inspire anyone to be really funny!”

“The experience of performing all over the country, whether at The Ridgefield Playhouse or on a rockin’ & rollin’ lobster boat off the coast of Maine is hands down the best high that has ever pulsed through my comedic veins. By giving this workshop, I’ll be able to share my techniques and performance experience with those in need of comic relief.”

To sign up ($300 tuition for the 8-week class), call the box office at 203-438-5795. The Ridgefield Playhouse is a not-for-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT, ridgefieldplayhouse.org.
