Stage and screen actress Nancy Thode brings her acclaimed one-woman autobiographical musical to the Carriage House in Norwalk for two performances only on Saturday, September 20.
"A Southern Belle Lives to Tell..." is the very musical story of a woman raised in the South, post World War II, and her journey from shy southern belle to New York sophisticate.
Along the way, Nancy chronicles her love stories, family stories and survival stories, adventures and misadventures and sings 44 songs - covering the spectrum from Broadway to Pop to Southern classics and back again. Among them: "There's No Business Like Show Business," "I Am Woman," "Carolina in the Morning," "Stand By Your Man" and many others you know and love.
Nancy's move to New York in the 1960s follows the path to independance that many women of her generation went through. Nancy's observations and insights - and songs - bring to life a wonderful bygone era.
Nancy grew up in Beaufort, South Carolina. Her family had lived in Beaufort since the 1860s and a number of her relatives are still there.
Currently, Nancy lives in Stamford, Connecticut, but spends as much time as possible on a barrier island outside of Beaufort, Fripp Island.
"A Southern Belle Lives To Tell...," written by Nancy Thode and directed by Frank Gaffney, with Musical Direction by John Lettieri, will be performed on Saturday, September 20 at 2pm & 8pm. Tickets are $15 and include wine and cheese at intermission.
Location: The Carriage House Arts Center, Cranbury Park, 390 Grumman Avenue, (at the intersection of Kensett and Grumann Avenues), in Norwalk, CT 06851
