Stamford, CT - The Women’s Business Development Council (WBDC), the leader in entrepreneurial training and financial education for women in Connecticut recently graduated nine students from the Kauffmann Foundation’s internationally recognized curriculum, Fast Trac, a nine week entrepreneurial development program.

“Starting a new business venture in any economy has risks, but it’s not impossible, and, in fact, these are the times when many successful ventures are launched” says WBDC CEO Fran Pastore. The single most important element of a successful start up is to mitigate the risk before start up by testing the integrity of one’s business concept. That is exactly what nine women and men did last week at the University of Bridgeport Stamford Campus when they completed the FastTrac® New Venture™ Business Planning Class for Start Ups. State Senator Carlo Leone handed out certificates of commendation from the State to each graduate.

From a soccer store to web design to closet consulting, WBDC clients represent an array of business ideas and ventures. Participants worked on their own business plans throughout the program, moving their venture to new levels of growth with help from WBDC Business Specialist Carol Cheswick, Wilson and WBDC’s impressive cadre of volunteer guest speakers.

Designed for the aspiring business owner, FastTrac® New Venture™ focused on matching participants’ business development needs to the business plan they developed to make their vision a reality. The program included nine three-hour classes, plus three one on one counseling sessions.
