The Business Council of Fairfield County will host Connecticut’s Legislative Leadership on Monday, March 30th at the Stamford Marriott Hotel, from 7:45 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. (directions >> http://www.businessfairfield.com/Directions/Marriott.htm)
The breakfast will feature Senate President Pro Tempore Don Williams (D - Brooklyn), House Speaker Christopher Donovan (D-Meriden), House Minority Leader Larry Cafero (R-Norwalk) and Senate Minority Leader Pro Tempore John McKinney (F-Fairfield) who will share their priorities and their predictions for the current legislative session.
Governor Rell has warned Connecticut residents of the sacrifices that lie ahead. Her proposed budget highlights shrinking and improving state government and promises no tax increases while maintaining vital services. The Democratic Legislative leadership is in agreement that there be a tough line on new spending. Yet they assert a $3 billion larger deficit than that used in the Governor's budget, requiring larger fixes.
With the state facing a recession, escalating state revenue losses and record unemployment, the proposed solutions have included no new tax cuts, tax credits on table and the Federal Stimulus Plan.
On March 30th, find out how federal strategies will play out at the state level. With a clear message from Washington that a stimulus plan is needed to resuscitate the economy, learn from our state leaders how this investment will be put to work.
Reservations for Business Council members are $45 per person, or $400 for a table of ten. The non-member rate is $55 per person. Reservations and further information may be obtained by contacting The Business Council at 203-359-3220.
