Explore the trends in the Connecticut contemporary art scene
with FRESH PICS, an exhibition of the work of up to 50 artists in the state and beyond, curated by Camilla Cook and presented by the Ridgefield Guild of Artists on view from January 23 to February 20, 2010. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, January 23 from 2 to 4 pm at The Guild, located at 34 Halpin Lane in Ridgefield, CT. A curator-led walkthrough of the exhibition will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, January 23 and refreshments will be served.
A celebration of artists living and working in Connecticut and beyond, FRESH PICS offers an insider’s view into an impressive and diverse selection of contemporary artwork found in the region. This survey exhibition brings together 50 artists, their diverse styles and a variety of media including painting, works on paper, photography and sculpture. FRESH PICS artists hail primarily from Connecticut, as well as New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts.
The exhibition is curated by Camilla Cook, an artist consultant and independent curator who works closely with artists and cultural organizations throughout the region. Cook has partnered with the Ridgefield Guild of Artists, an organization that is committed to promoting the visual arts and arts education. This partnership underscores the strong support for artists within our region as well as resources available for aspiring to mid-career artists.
Camilla Cook and the Ridgefield Guild will also host “Resources & Opportunities for Artists” a panel discussion featuring area art organizations and a tour of the exhibition on February 6, 2010 at 2 pm. This event is open to the public and will be held at the Ridgefield Guild of Artists. In case of inclement weather, the snow date for reception is Sunday, January 24. About Camilla Cook
An independent artist consultant and committed champion of the arts, Camilla Cook serves as a resource and advocate for over 60 artists in Connecticut and beyond. In addition to working closely with her artist clients, Camilla has directed, curated, originated or contributed to programs The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Silvermine Guild Arts Center, The West-port Arts Center and The Neuberger Museum of Art. Camilla received her B.A. from Boston University, and M.A. in Modern and Contemporary Art History from SUNY Purchase. Information available at www.camillacook.com.
