FAIRFIELD, CT - March 12, 2010 - Professional and serious amateur photographers, as well as students, are invited and encouraged to submit their work for the second annual juried photography exhibition held at the Fairfield Museum and History Center in Fairfield, Connecticut. This open competition will be curated by a jury of professional photographers and advertising executives, including internationally-acclaimed photographers Stephen Wilkes and Carl Burton, along with Celeste Holt Walters, Senior Art Producer at McCann Erikson advertising agency, and Howard Bernstein, CEO of Bernstein Andriulli, a firm that manages the careers of prestigious photographers and connects artists with distinguished international advertising and design companies.
Winning entries will be featured in the IMAGES exhibition at the Fairfield Museum from May 8 through June 6, 2010. A preview party will be held May 7, 2010.
IMAGES is a juried photography exhibition hosted by the Fairfield Museum to celebrate the exceptional work of talented regional photographers. The exhibition provides an excellent opportunity for artists to connect with prominent collectors, gallery owners and the public. The 2010 exhibition also will feature the work of photographer Jay Maisel, an ASMP Life Time Achievement award-winner, ASMP Photographer of the Year, an International Center of Photography's Infinity Award-winner, and member of the Art Directors Club Hall of Fame.
How to Enter: Artists may submit up to 5 images under one of two categories: Professional / Serious Amateur or Active Student (under 24 years of age). Under either of those categories, artists may submit their work under the following subjects: Landscape, Portrait, Nature, Abstract, and Architecture. Entrants may submit photographs up to 5MB in size and must fill out a brief entry form for each image.
Submission Fees: For Professional / Serious Amateurs, there is a $10 per image processing fee. For Students, the processing fee is $5 per image. Fees may be paid through PayPal at http://data.fairfield.edu/images . Entries will not be successfully submitted without payment.
Deadline: The deadline to submit entries is April 7, 2010. To submit entries and for more detailed information, visit http://data.fairfield.edu/images . DO NOT MAIL OR SHIP WORK. All submissions must be entered electronically through this Web site and no entries will be accepted at the Fairfield Museum or through any other means.
All submissions will be reviewed by jurors April 8-11. Artists who are selected for inclusion in the 2010 IMAGES exhibition will be notified by e-mail on April 12 and will be required to deliver a print of their chosen photograph to the Fairfield Museum, 370 Beach Road, Fairfield, CT, 06824 no later than Noon on Monday, April 26.
Jury Grand Prize Winners: One photographer from the Professional / Serious Amateur Category and one from the Student Category will be selected by the jury as a Grand Prize Winner. The Professional / Serious Amateur winner will be awarded a 10-day exhibition at the renowned Southport Galleries in Southport, Connecticut ( http://www.southportgalleries.com ). The winner in the Student category will receive a professional portfolio review with award-winning photographer Stephen Wilkes.
PREVIEW PARTY: A preview party for the IMAGES exhibition will be held on May 7 from 6:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. at the Fairfield Museum and History Center. The ticketed reception provides an opportunity to preview winning works by premier photographers from the region. A Special Exhibit of award-winning work by internationally acclaimed photographer Jay Maisel will be on display for the event. Tickets for the gala event will be $100.
