    Explaining Conflict in India and Pakistan

    Steven I. Wilkinson, Nilekani Professor of India and South Asian Studies and Professor of Political Science and International Affairs at Yale University, will speak at a World Affairs Forum program on September 14 at UCONN/Stamford. The program will begin at 5:45 P.M., with networking and refreshments, followed by the presentation at 6:15 P.M.

    Dr. Wilkinson’s work and research concentrates on India and ethnic violence. His book “Votes and Violence: Electoral Competition and Ethnic Riots in India” was a co-winner of APSA’s Woodrow Wilson prize for best published book in government, politics and international affairs. Currently, Dr. Wilkinson is working on a new book on colonial legacies for democracy and conflict. He also has an upcoming project that will extend his previous work on clientelism and the prospects for reform on state capacity in India and elsewhere.
