Afghanistan and Pakistan
Jake Sherman, Associate Director, Peacekeeping and Security Sector Reform, Center on International Cooperation, New York University, will speak on Afghanistan and Pakistan at the New Canaan Library as part of the Great Decisions program. Great Decisions programs are free and refreshments are available courtesy of the New Canaan Library.
Prior to joining Center of International Cooperation, Mr. Sherman was a consultant on peace building issues in Cambodia for Oxfam GB, the American Friends Service Committee, and the Alliance for Conflict Transformation, a local NGO. He has worked for the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan, the International Peace Academy, and Physicians for Human Rights in the Balkans. During 2008, Mr. Sherman was seconded to the secretariat of the Independent Panel on Safety and Security of UN Personnel and Premises. He holds a Masters in International Affairs from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs.
