Game one of today’s (Wednesday, May 8) doubleheader of Bridgeport Bluefish versus the Camden Riversharks has been postponed due to inclement weather. Ticket holders for game one of Wednesday's (5/8) doubleheader can exchange their tickets at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard Box Office for a ticket of equal or lesser value to any one of the remaining Bluefish regular season home games during the 2013 season, based on availability.

New Canaan wins 14 gold medals at the Long Island Sprint Championships
New Canaan won 14 gold medals at the Long Island Sprint Championships in Oyster Bay last weekend. Over the 1500 meter course New Canaan’s novice, jv and varsity boats continued their winning tradition winning 24 medals total, dominating many of the events they entered. “It was a great day of racing” beamed Coach Yan Vengerovskyi. “With Northeast Regionals just two weeks away, this was a great showing by our kids.” .

An estimated 30 million people ride horses every year in the United States. And according to the U.S. Consumers Product Safety Commission, about 200,000 of them are injured, with as many as 70,000 seen in hospital emergency rooms. The rate of injuries for horseback riding is higher than for motorcycle riding and is highest among riders 5- 24 years old. "A riding horse may weigh up to 1,300 pounds and travel more than 30 miles per hour," says Dr. Stuart Styles of Somers Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine Group. "With the rider sitting six feet above the ground and the momentum generated by the horse's speed, the primary risk of injury is from falls. But people can also be kicked, stepped on or fallen on by a horse."
