Sports concussion program for Greenwich high school students, parents and coaches offered March 18 On Thursday, March 18, the ONS Foundation for Clinical Research and Education will present a free seminar; Sports Concussion: Know the Facts! Concussion management strategies for high school athletes and the ImPACT Test. The program, which will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m., is open to Greenwich High School students, parents, coaches and trainers. Concussions are the hot topic in the NFL and on high school and college campuses across the country with heightened concern about the brain health of players of contact sports. The Bridgeport Sound Tigers have released their Clear Day roster for the 2010 Calder Cup Playoffs. The Clear Day roster consists of a maximum of 22 players. It did not take long for the chemistry to return for Sound Tiger forwards Trevor Smith and Mike Radja. Both played together at the University of New Hampshire and were paired together on the same line tonight, combining for four points and leading the Sound Tigers to a 5-4 victory over the Portland Pirates. Tomas Marcinko and Matt Martin tallied the other two Sound Tiger goals while Sound Tiger net-minder, Nathan Lawson turned aside 28 shots to earn his 12th win of the season. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Connecticut Chapter is gearing up to host the 29th annual Bike MS: bkm/Steelcase Ride, presented by Louis Dreyfus Commodities, Sunday, June 13, starting and finishing at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport. Cyclists can select from 12-, 30- or 62-mile routes. The ride also features a kiddie route for children. For a third year participants can saddle up for one of two dates.
