Ann’s Place, The Home of I CAN is looking for golfers and sponsors for its 15th Annual Ladies Golf Classic

On Monday June 21st from 8:30 am to 4 pm, Ann’s Place, The Home of I CAN Cancer Support Services and Resource Center will hold its 15th Annual Ladies Golf Classic at Richter Park in Danbury, CT. Ladies looking for a round of golf in a delightful setting – or anyone interested in sponsoring this fundraising event – is invited to participate. Not only is the Ladies Golf Classic one of the top ladies tournaments in the area – it is played at the beautiful Richter Park Golf Course, awarded by Golf Digest as one of the “Best Places to Play” in 2008-2009. Due to its popularity, ladies are encouraged to register as soon as possible as this is a first come, first served event.

Sports concussion program for Greenwich high school students, parents and coaches offered March 18
On Thursday, March 18, the ONS Foundation for Clinical Research and Education will present a free seminar; Sports Concussion: Know the Facts! Concussion management strategies for high school athletes and the ImPACT Test. The program, which will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m., is open to Greenwich High School students, parents, coaches and trainers. Concussions are the hot topic in the NFL and on high school and college campuses across the country with heightened concern about the brain health of players of contact sports. The ONS Foundation wants to raise awareness about the risk of concussion and help educate Greenwich High School athletes about concussion signs and symptoms. More

Sound Tigers announced Clear Day roster
22-man roster is set for the Calder Cup Playoffs

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers have released their Clear Day roster for the 2010 Calder Cup Playoffs. The Clear Day roster consists of a maximum of 22 players. According to American Hockey League by-laws, only those players listed on a team’s Clear Day roster are eligible to compete in the remainder of the 2009-10 AHL regular season and in the 2010 Calder Cup Playoffs, unless emergency conditions arise as a result of recall, injury or suspension. Smith and Radja tally third period goals to lead Sound Tigers to 5-4 victory

It did not take long for the chemistry to return for Sound Tiger forwards Trevor Smith and Mike Radja. Both played together at the University of New Hampshire and were paired together on the same line tonight, combining for four points and leading the Sound Tigers to a 5-4 victory over the Portland Pirates. Tomas Marcinko and Matt Martin tallied the other two Sound Tiger goals while Sound Tiger net-minder, Nathan Lawson turned aside 28 shots to earn his 12th win of the season. The Sound Tigers improve to 28-27-3-6 this season, giving them 65 points and tying them for fourth place in the Atlantic Division. More

Newly acquired Dylan Reese made his presence felt in his first game with the Sound Tigers after coming over in a trade with Syracuse on Monday. Playing with his new teammates for the first time, Reese scored a goal and an assist but the Sound Tigers fell to the defending Calder Cup Champion Hershey Bears, 6-3, Tuesday night at Arena at Harbor Yard. Westport cyclists gear up for 29th annual Bike MS Ride

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Connecticut Chapter is gearing up to host the 29th annual Bike MS: bkm/Steelcase Ride, presented by Louis Dreyfus Commodities, Sunday, June 13, starting and finishing at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport. Cyclists can select from 12-, 30- or 62-mile routes. The ride also features a kiddie route for children. For a third year participants can saddle up for one of two dates. A second Bike MS: bkm/Steelcase Ride will take place Sunday, June 6, at Griffin Center in Windsor.

Fordham women capture first ever Atlantic 10 swimming & diving championship

When the Atlantic 10 preseason poll for women's swimming & diving came out back on October 15th, the pressure was on Fordham all season long as they were picked first by the Atlantic 10 coaches. Saturday in Buffalo, the team finished off their dream season of high expectations with their first ever Atlantic 10 Championship. It is the first postseason A-10 Championship title for any women's sport at Fordham.
