Alaska Native Students Complete Annual Educational Visit with Mystic Aquarium’s Cultural Exchange Program

Cloonan Eighth Grader Shiloh Rene Williamson Named Connecticut State Winner of DAR American History Essay Contest

The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) recently named Shiloh Rene Williamson, eighth grader from Cloonan Middle School as both the local and State winner of the American History Essay Contest. Shiloh’s essay is now entered for consideration in the Divisional Contest and will be judged against all other eighth grade winners from the seven regional states.

Literary Giant to Inspire Young Writers in Second Competition at the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum

The Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum is launching its second writing competition, The Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum/Ernest Hemingway/Young Writers’ Competition, which will be part of the Museum’s 2015 Education Program. The Museum’s objective is to continue to establish this vibrant educational program in Norwalk’s public schools and other Fairfield County communities. City of Norwalk’s Interim Superintendent Dr. James A. Connelly endorsed the program and said he will help in any way he can to ensure its success.

Lauralton Hall Turns Trash to Fashion at its 10th Annual Eco-Fashion Show, “Trash the Runway”

Winner of First Place Overall: Marissa Browne ’15 created this colorful dress from little pieces of cut-up junk mail
Now in its tenth year, the Lauralton Hall Environmental Club put on its “Trash the Runway” Eco-Fashion Show aimed at promoting sustainable living and good stewardship of the earth. Turning trash into fashion was the predominant theme as students showcased their innovative outfits made out of recycled goods.

New Canaan Country School Hosts 9th Deal Days Event on April 25

New Canaan Country School (NCCS) will host its 9th Annual Deal Days event. This community-wide tag sale, which is open to the public and attracts large crowds, has thousands of items for sale and will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2015. The event raises critical funds for NCCS Financial Aid.
