Sacred Heart University broke ground today on a new building to house its Colleges of Health Professions and Nursing. Located at 4030 Park Avenue in Bridgeport, the Center for Healthcare Education will be three stories comprising 117,000 square feet on 8.7 acres.

Leone: Senate makes major change regarding the future of 11th grade student assessments

The State Senate approved a bipartisan plan this afternoon to unburden high school juniors from controversial standardized testing. The proposal would end the requirement that 11th-grade students participate in the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) testing. Instead, students would be able to take a nationally recognized college readiness exam.

United Way of Western CT Pilots the Strong Start Neighborhood Initiative at Park Avenue School

Study after study shows that learning begins at birth, that children who grow up in nurturing, literacy-rich home environments will thrive, and that children whose parents are engaged in their learning and involved in their school will do well academically. Based on this early learning, family-centered approach, United Way of Western CT is piloting the Strong Start Neighborhood Initiative at Park Avenue School in Danbury this year.
