Webster Bank, a leading regional bank serving businesses and consumers from Westchester County, N.Y. to Boston, Mass., is pleased to have hosted a Job Shadow opportunity for seven High School Inc. students because mentorship opens doors for the students of today as they prepare to become the leaders of tomorrow. Webster has taken part in the job shadow and internship program for two years.

Barclays to support SCFAS program at SHU
The Investment Management Program (IMP) of Stamford has announced that Barclays is joining the list of corporate supporters that serve as an inspiration to the program, thereby helping to cultivate a young generation of future CFA charter holders. Through a partnership with the Stamford Chartered Financial Analysts Society (SCFAS), students of Sacred Heart University’s John F. Welch College of Business who are part of the IMP will benefit from access to a wide array of tools and research from financial institutions like Barclays.

An honorary Doctor of Laws degree will be presented to E. Patricia Llodra, first selectman of Newtown, and author Terry Eagleton will receive an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree at Sacred Heart University’s 47th annual Undergraduate Commencement ceremonies on Sunday, May 19. Llodra will deliver the commencement address.

Treasurer Nappier Announces 2013 CHET Dream Big! Competition Winners
More than seven dozen aspiring surgeons, ballerinas, teachers, paleontologists and, yes, Presidents of the United States are the winners of the fifth annual CHET Dream Big! Competition. The contest encourages Connecticut students in kindergarten through fifth grade to share their dreams about life after college through drawings and essays.

2013 Governor’s Scholars Luncheon to be Held May 16th in Southington
The Connecticut Association of Schools (CAS) Seventeenth Annual Governor’s Scholars Luncheon will take place this Thursday, May 16th at 12 noon at the Aqua Turf in Southington. Governor Dannel P. Malloy is expected to be present at the luncheon and will address those being honored. Mark Dixon, Meteorologist at WFSB Eyewitness News 3, will serve as the Master of Ceremonies.
