Cultural Alliance of Western CT opens new Accessible Art shows Aug 24th
With Labor Day fast upon us, thoughts of that final summer fling vividly flash through one's mind. But where to escape? "Into Art," says Lisa Scails, Executive Director of the Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut. With its recent opening of works by Mary Lou and Robert Alberetti at @287 Gallery and Meeting Place, it may be expected that the Cultural Alliance might laze away the rest of the summer season. Instead, it is presenting seven exhibitions, from Monday, August 24th through Thursday, October 29th, the next edition of its popular - and growing -Accessible Art, a year-long, multi-site series of exhibitions joining business with art. The exhibition program, now in its 7th year, is presented in both public and private venues, providing opportunities for artists to show work in alternative spaces and to make art more accessible to the general public. Industrious? You bet. Since its inception, Accessible Art has presented almost 100 local and regional visual artists in venues that include an insurance agency, a senior care facility, and a Bethel restaurant. (Times at venues vary. Call ahead. All exhibitions are subject to change.) More
